Bak lukkede dører -de syke og farlige blandt oss
Description:
Behind Closed Doors - The Sick and Dangerous Among Us - Lecture with Randi Rosenqvist
Welcome to an insightful and exciting lecture with Randi Rosenqvist, Norway's most experienced forensic psychiatrist.
She has approximately 50 years of experience in psychiatry and correctional services, and provides a unique insight into how we deal with people who commit serious acts of violence – people many are afraid of, but know little about.
Rosenqvist points out that the sickest among us are often let down. They are placed in correctional facilities or receive inadequate care, while more and more are sentenced to compulsory psychiatric treatment. Could society have failed the most mentally ill among us? Randi Rosenqvist challenges us to look beyond the diagnoses and understand that the most dangerous among us are also people with the same feelings as everyone else.
Through the lecture, she shares insights from some of Norway's largest forensic psychiatric trials, including the case against Anders Behring Breivik, and reflects on the role of forensic psychiatry: Was the trial a victory or a loss?
Rosenqvist also shares her personal story, which has made her one of Norway's leading experts. For her work, she has been awarded the 2024 Openness Prize, and she has been appointed Commander of the Order of St. Olav. She is currently working on the book "My life, my profession: heavy psychiatry - betrayed by the sickest".
Randi Rosenqvist has around fifty years of experience in psychiatry, she has written influential textbooks on forensic psychiatry and taught in many forums, served as chair of the Forensic Medicine Commission and participated in several of the country's largest forensic psychiatric trials in various roles. For her work, she has received the Order of St. Olav, the Court Security Award and the Transparency Award (2024). She is currently working on the book "My life, my profession: heavy psychiatry - betrayed by the sickest"
