The renowned Norwegian jazz trio takes its name from the scenic valley just north of central Oslo and consists of Anders Hefre (saxophone, clarinet), Jonas Kilmork Vemøy (trumpet) and Andreas Rødland Haga (double bass).

With their transparent, playful and warm sound, the trio has developed a distinctive and refreshing expression that fits well with the inspiration they find in nature – and which offers something new to the international jazz scene.

The debut album Maridalen (2021) was placed on the list of "Best Norwegians of the Year" by Aftenposten, while the English MOJO Magazine placed the album on the "Jazz albums of the Year". The follow-up album "Bortenfor" (2022) was proclaimed "The best jazz albums of 2022" by Dagsavisen, and "Album of the month" on German radio WDR. On their third album "Gressholmen" (2024), the trio changed the recording location from the wooden church in Maridalen to a DNT cabin on the island of Gressholmen in the Oslofjord.

 The album has received rave reviews and was included in MOJO Magazine's “Best Jazz Albums of 2024” and Dagsavisen's list of “Best Norwegian Jazz Albums of 2024”. The release was celebrated with two sold-out concerts at Gressholmen during Oslojazz 2024.

 Maridalen was recently selected as one of the official showcase artists at Jazzahead! 2025 in Bremen and has in recent years toured in the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, Denmark and the UK, among others, and played at festivals such as the London Jazz Festival (UK), Ora Jazz Festival (RO), Nordic Jazz Festival (NE) and this year's Moldejazz.
