Description:

The 1990s – Tor Inge Vormedal

The 1990s began with unemployment in the region of over ten percent and an interest rate of 15 percent. The price of oil was $11 a barrel, property prices fell and the country's large commercial banks went bankrupt. Mobile phones became smaller and cost only 1 krone. The EU issue dominated the political agenda and local asylum reception facilities were hotly debated. Vamp started his career and two of the city's football teams merged to form Fotballklubben Haugesund (FKH). During the 1990s we got both Rennfast, Trekantsambandet and a new road through Åkrafjorden.
