Description:

HIVJU and The Garbage KING is a musical collaboration between actor Kristofer Hivju and producer/musician Olav Lystrup . Together they create an expression that is intimate and uncompromising, where strong narratives meet an organic and visual soundscape.

This spring the duo will go on an acoustic tour. The music will be presented in its most naked and direct format when they visit Oslo, Mysen, Jessheim and several other places around the country. The debut album is on the way, and the music can be described as follows:

"A deep voice, accompanied by a lyrical rattle orchestra that celebrates human frailty. A blissful mix of genres that creates a raw, playful and image-rich musical universe."

Their first concert took place at Rockefeller in 2022, as support for Luke Elliot . The collaboration began with a text message from Hivju to Lystrup:

"This is the album I want to make with you: Simple. Dark. Raw. A bass that hits you below the belt. A sound that opens you up. And then it takes off. Ten stories. A guy has a lot to say, and some of it is true. And the truth is not necessarily beautiful, but it is close. It is yours. It is ours. Are you in?"

Lystrup immediately replied:

"We start tomorrow."

Olav Lystrup (producer and multi-instrumentalist) has worked with a number of critically acclaimed artists such as Torgeir Waldemar , The Turns and the band Impossible , of which he himself is a member. Olav is currently producing a tribute album in honor of his recently deceased father, singer-songwriter Geirr Lystrup, with contributions from Solveig Slettahjell , Bendik Hofseth , Helge Iberg, among others. and Sigmund Groven .

Lystrup says:

"Collaborating with Hivju is a joy. We can't wait to finally share our music."

Kristofer Hivju (vocals and guitar) is best known as an actor from, among other things, Game of Thrones , BECK and a number of American films and TV series. However, music has always been a central part of his life. He started his first band at the age of 10, and later played in the band WAX, which played at John Dee , Sentrum Scene, among others. and Rockefeller, as well as touring in Norway and Europe. Hivju has been writing songs his whole life and says:

"Becoming a rock star was plan A. After a long detour via plan B, I'm finally back on track."
