Description:

1970s: Tor Inge Vormedal

The 1970s were a colorful decade with song festivals, gymnastics festivals, women's liberation and the European Union struggle. In the 1970s, the environment came on the agenda for the first time, and in 1975 Haugesund Airport, Karmøy opened. The shipping crisis had major consequences for the city's business community, with both shipping companies and shipyards collapsing.
